All About Mint

Mint

Mentha sp.

We love mint!  It's easy to grow, easy to propagate, the bees LOVE it, and has endless uses.  If we could only pick one herb to grow, this would be it.

Sun Requirements: Full sun to part shade (leaning more to part shade in hot climates)

Water & Drainage: Prefers moist soil with good drainage.  Does not like to dry out.

Propagation: Mint does incredibly well through both stem and root cuttings.

Important Note: Mint can be a bit overpowering in a garden bed through runners.  All of our mints have their own patch, but if you don't have the space for that, we recommend growing mint in a container either on a patio or set a pot in the ground with a couple inches of pot set above the soil line.

Mint works great as a companion plant (in pots) to help keep pests away from tomatoes, cabbage, onions, carrots, and radishes!
